Green Coffee Bean Extracts are derived from unroasted coffee seeds of coffee fruits. A chemical called chlorogenic acid is reduced during the process of roasting coffee beans. Chlorogenic acid helps burn stored fat and decrease the amount of sugar being processed into your blood. The acid is thought to slow the processing of sugar into glucose. Why Is Coffee Great For Weight Loss?

During the 243rd National Meeting and Exposition of the American Chemical Society (ACS), Joe Vinson from the University of Scranton revealed a new study conducted using green coffee bean extract.

 

The study involved sixteen overweight or obese participants who took capsules containing green coffee bean extract. Each participant took the extract capsules half an hour before eating a meal, 3 times daily. Over the period of twenty-two weeks, participants either took low or high doses of the extract supplements. The participants did not change their exercise regimens or eating habits throughout the study. 

 

The participants lost 17 pounds, equaling a total body weight loss of about 10 percent. Participants also saw a 16 percent decrease in total body fat. Their average daily caloric intake was roughly around 2,400 calories. Through exercise, an average of 400 calories was burned. This calorie level alone would not result in the dramatic weight loss that was observed with the extract. 

 

Scientists suggest that the favorable effects of green coffee bean extracts can be attributed to their chlorogenic acid. Because roasted coffee beans are broken down during the roasting process, chlorogenic acid isn’t present in roasted coffee beans. According to the study’s lead researcher, no adverse effects were observed from taking the green coffee bean extract capsules.
